Since June 2023, CA/B Forum rules require the private key for all OV and EV code signing certificates to be stored on a FIPS 140-2 Level 2 (or Common Criteria EAL 4+) hardware token or HSM. This prevents key theft and certificate misuse. At checkout you can have a new token shipped to you, or install on your existing compliant token/HSM.

If your device is certified to at least FIPS 140-2 Level 2 or Common Criteria EAL 4+ — such as SafeNet 5110, YubiKey 5 FIPS, Luna Network HSM, or a cloud HSM like Azure Key Vault or Google Cloud KMS — choose the "Install on existing HSM" delivery option and skip the shipping cost.
